NHK reporters have visited the crippled Fukushima Daiichi power plant nearly 2 years after the nuclear accident.

 Government officials say radiation levels within 80 kilometers of the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant decreased by 40 percent in the 12 months leading up to November, 2012.

The following are the results of observations during the Feb.24 week.

On Feb. 24, Cs-137 density was found to be 1.1 Bq/L in the sumples collected 30 meters north of the Unit 5-6 outlets. On the other six days, no noticeable amount of radioactive iodine or cesium was detected from sea water near the outlets of the Fukushhima Dai-ichi plant.  Radiological dose in the air of the plant site, meaured yesterday,is posted on the following page.
